Google updates Chrome Web Store policy: Bans prediction market extensions

Odaily Planet Daily reports that Google has updated its Chrome Web Store developer policy, explicitly prohibiting prediction markets as a product category. Under the new regulations, any Chrome extension that facilitates or supports real-money transactions based on predicted outcomes will not be allowed for publication on the Chrome Web Store. This update also strengthens requirements for user data collection transparency and privacy protection. The new policy will take effect on August 1, 2026.
