Iranian Speaker: Strait of Hormuz Should Be Jointly Managed by Iran and Oman

According to Odaily, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated today that the Strait of Hormuz should be jointly managed by Iran and Oman. Ghalibaf made these remarks during a meeting with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Haibat al-Halboosi. When discussing the management of the Strait of Hormuz, Ghalibaf noted that a recently signed memorandum of understanding with the United States stipulates that the strait should be jointly managed by Iran and Oman. He further mentioned that Iran is consulting on this matter with countries along the Persian Gulf coast, including Iraq. (Xinhua News Agency)
