Morningstar: Uncertainty Over Potential Capex of Samsung and SK Hynix Could Weigh on Stock Prices
Odaily Planet Daily News Morningstar analyst Jing Jie Yu stated that market uncertainty regarding the potential capital expenditure of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix may be weighing on their stock prices. He indicated that the combined capital expenditure of these two companies over the next decade could reach approximately 2000 trillion won, nearly double Morningstar's current forecast. This could include SK Hynix's plan to invest in AI data centers, with its committed investment in the Yongin wafer cluster already expected to reach 600 trillion won.
The analyst pointed out that if SK Hynix's commitment to investing in AI data centers and its potential capital expenditure plan are two separate investments, memory chip manufacturers would face a clear risk of oversupply. This is because market demand typically slows when the capital expenditure cycle enters its later stages. (Jin Shi)
