US Senator: Cryptocurrency Tax Bill Could Be Announced as Early as This Fall

U.S. Senate Republican tax writer Steve Daines stated that the framework for cryptocurrency tax legislation being advanced in the Senate is largely in place, and the relevant bill could be announced as early as this fall.

Daines noted that the framework has "more similarities than differences" compared to the cryptocurrency tax proposal previously released by the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee, and expressed hope that a markup session could be held within the year to move the legislative process forward.
