Iran Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Fees must be collected for services in the Strait of Hormuz

2026-06-14 02:01

Odaily Planet Daily News: Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Baqaei stated that Iran's measures to ensure safe passage in the Strait of Hormuz are aimed at safeguarding national security and aligning with the common interests of the international community. Iran must obtain fees for providing services in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to a recording of a ship's radio public channel provided by a sailor on a commercial vessel near the Strait of Hormuz, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy issued a warning to vessels in the surrounding waters on the evening of the 13th, instructing them not to transit through the Strait of Hormuz. The recording indicated that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy hailed all ships in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, stating that the Strait of Hormuz was completely closed and that any vessel attempting to pass through would face "decisive action." The broadcast also ordered all ships not to move within the Strait of Hormuz until further notice.

Naboyan, Deputy Chairman of Iran's National Security Committee, previously stated that based on the text of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States he had reviewed, all commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz would resume passage without any restrictions.
