Bitcoin kidnapping carjacking accomplice pleads guilty, faces up to 20 years in prison

Odaily Planet Daily News The U.S. Department of Justice stated that Saif Faiq has pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges in a Bitcoin-related kidnapping and extortion case, facing a maximum of 20 years in prison, with sentencing scheduled for August 28.

The incident occurred in 2024, when Faiq and his brother Adam Iza were accused of plotting to kidnap the parents of a crypto millionaire and recruiting six men from Florida to carry out the operation in Connecticut. The individuals hijacked the victims' Lamborghini Urus in broad daylight, assaulted them, and briefly detained them.

The victims are Sushil and Radhika Chetal. Their son, Veer Chetal, was previously involved in a social engineering fraud scheme, stealing approximately 4,100 Bitcoins, and has pleaded guilty to the theft charges. Faiq and his brother have both admitted to conspiring to interfere with commerce through robbery.
