Bloomberg Analyst: SK Hynix ETF Trading Activity Extremely Rare, Asset Scale Surges 10-Fold This Year

2026-05-27 15:00

Odaily Planet Daily News, Bloomberg Senior ETF Analyst Eric Balchunas stated on the X platform that the 2x leveraged SK Hynix ETF (7709) in the Hong Kong market has seen its asset scale grow approximately 10-fold this year, currently becoming the third-largest ETF in the Hong Kong market, accounting for about 8.5% of total ETF assets. This ETF has also recorded extremely high trading activity, with a daily turnover exceeding the $10 billion level. When calculated as equivalent to the U.S. market size, this corresponds to a daily trading volume of approximately $150 billion, which is considered extremely rare in the global ETF market.

Eric Balchunas specifically pointed out that if converted proportionally, the scale of this ETF in the U.S. market would be equivalent to an ETF of approximately $1.3 trillion, but a product of this magnitude does not yet exist globally.

Market participants believe this phenomenon reflects a rapidly increasing concentration of capital in Hong Kong's derivative ETFs and single-underlying leveraged products, while also highlighting the continuously growing activity in Asia's market for high-risk structured ETF trading.
