2026-05-15 10:24

Odaily Planet Daily News Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated in New Delhi on Friday that Tehran has "no trust" in the United States and would only consider negotiations with Washington if it demonstrates a "serious attitude." Speaking on the sidelines of the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting, he stated that Iran is trying to maintain the current ceasefire to create room for diplomatic efforts. According to multiple media reports, Araghchi emphasized Iran's long-standing lack of trust in the U.S. and stated that any communication under the current situation depends on whether the U.S. shows a "serious and credible stance." He also expressed Iran's hope that by maintaining the ceasefire, opportunities for subsequent diplomatic engagement and de-escalation could be preserved. (Jin Shi)
