Myanmar Proposes Death Penalty for Criminals Who Coerce Victims into Crypto Scams

Odaily Planet Daily News Myanmar proposes the death penalty in the draft "Anti-Online Fraud Bill" for criminals who use violent means to coerce victims into participating in cryptocurrency scam centers.

According to the draft content, acts of violence, torture, illegal detention, or other cruel treatment inflicted on others, forcing them to engage in online fraud activities, will be punishable by death. The relevant bill is expected to be submitted to Parliament for consideration in June this year.

Furthermore, operators of scam centers and perpetrators of crypto fraud may also face life imprisonment. Reports indicate that the Myanmar President commuted all death sentences nationwide to life imprisonment last month. (Protos)
