Kevin Hassett, Director of the White House National Economic Council, was asked during an interview how long Powell would remain as a Fed governor after Kevin Warsh takes over as Fed Chair.
Hassett stated that he believes Powell may feel he can choose to step down after the Fed's Inspector General completes its investigation into the Fed headquarters renovation project. Hassett said: "I guess the opportunity to gracefully exit could come when the Inspector General's report is released, and if he is satisfied with the findings." (Jinshi)
