Sources: Iranian officials expected to formally respond today to US assessment of the 14-point proposal
According to Odaily Planet Daily, citing sources from Pakistan, Iran is reviewing the US response to the 14-point proposal. This proposal aims to formally end hostilities and open a 30-day negotiation window to discuss issues including Iran's nuclear program, lifting sanctions, and safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Pakistani diplomatic sources stated that Iranian officials are expected to formally respond on May 8, and the US is awaiting Iran's stance on key issues.
Iran recently submitted a new 14-point proposal to the US through Pakistan, a mediating party, which mainly includes ensuring no further military aggression, the US paying compensation, and establishing a new management mechanism for the Strait of Hormuz. On May 2, Trump stated that he would soon evaluate Iran's new proposal but "cannot imagine" it being "acceptable." (CCTV News)
