Trump's "Gold Card" Visa Program Has Only One Approved Applicant, a Stark Contrast to the Trillion-Dollar Projections
Odaily Planet Daily News: U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated at a congressional hearing that President Trump's "Gold Card" visa program has currently only approved one applicant. This program is seen as a new initiative to replace the traditional EB-5 immigrant investor program. Meanwhile, companies can also pay $2 million to apply for foreign employees, with an additional 1% annual maintenance fee. It allows foreigners to pay at least $1 million to legally live and work in the U.S. and eventually obtain a path to citizenship.
Howard Lutnick previously stated that within days of its launch, the program had sold slots worth $1.3 billion, and he projected it could generate $1 trillion in revenue to help alleviate the U.S. fiscal deficit. Although only one person has been officially approved so far, Lutnick stated that there are still hundreds of applicants undergoing the review process. (Fortune)
