Malaysian entrepreneur sells ai.com domain for $70 million after 30 years
Odaily News A Malaysian tech entrepreneur, Arsyan Ismail, sold the premium domain name ai.com in April 2025 for a reported transaction amount as high as $70 million (approximately 301 million Malaysian ringgit at the time), thereby earning over 300 million ringgit in revenue.
Arsyan has garnered significant attention due to this high-value transaction, but in fact, he purchased this domain name as early as 1993 when he was just 10 years old, using his mother's credit card. At the time, instead of spending money on toys or games, he bought the ai.com domain for only $100 (about 256 ringgit back then).
His mother was very puzzled by this charge at the time—she didn't know what a domain name was and only saw an "unexplained" charge on her credit card bill. (Malay Mail)
