On the first day of the new year, the Lightning Network inscription project NOSS caused widespread discussion in the encryption community.
In just a few hours, the discussion about NOSS in the community went from Hurry up and add equipment and have more casting points at the beginning to Stop mining, the project team uses our equipment as a mining machine. Why has the community sentiment changed so much? Odaily takes everyone to review the entire process of NOSS casting last night.
First minting: website crashes, delays
In fact, NOSS started casting a few days ago.
Since there is no casting cost (no need to pay Gas) and it is based on the Lightning Network, many community members registered in batches to participate in the casting. On the day of NOSSs first casting, the official website was paralyzed due to high traffic. The project team was forced to suspend public casting and informed participants that they needed to wait patiently for re-casting.

Second Casting: Emotions Shift from FOMO to FUD
NOSS official website
On the morning of January 1st, some Alpha communities issued announcements notifying the second casting time of the NOSS inscription project - 21:00 last night, which once again boosted the popularity of the project.
Even during the holidays, users’ enthusiasm for casting remains undiminished. At the beginning of casting last night, the MINT button was difficult to load, and users needed to refresh constantly to barely participate. So, an hour into minting, the community discussion topic was:
For those who haven’t refreshed Mint, just refresh like crazy until it does;
For those who have refreshed Mint, just let it continue to mine, and never quit. Once you quit, it will be difficult to come back;
Now my signature pops up in less than 0.7 seconds, and I am already too busy operating several devices at the same time;
My computer still doesn’t work, and my signature doesn’t pop up for a long time;
I don’t know how much I dug, but my computer and mobile phone started to lose power.
The project team may not have the index yet, so don’t ask yet. Just dig when the signature pops up. With so many people digging together, it should be finished soon...
For a while, major communities were discussing NOSS mining in full swing, until the official announced the specific mining rules (as shown below) - it can be roughly understood that only one address in each block will mine NOSS.

In an instant, various inscription communities exploded, and there was even more cursing underneath the tweet. Community members have reported that the NOSS project uses minting users’ computing power to mine BTC for themselves (Figure 1 below).

In addition, some community members reported that there was indeed a sudden surge in the Bitcoin hash rate of an unknown mining pool around 10 oclock last night (Figure 2 below).

After the news of stealing users computing power spread, the atmosphere of discussing NOSS in the community changed 180 degrees. The discussion topics were:
Brothers, please report bit by bit to keep this project away from our sight;
The computer was smoking, so the project party compensated my computer;
I can’t finish the fight until the bull market ends, so I turn off my phone and go to sleep;
Stop mining, this project uses our CPU to mine for them...
The attention of NOSS inscriptions has also been declining amid the criticism. Coupled with the rise of BTC this morning, the community began to look for new first-level projects, and almost no one discussed the project again.
However, crypto KOl Xinyi is very optimistic about NOSS and believes that the projects algorithm is very innovative. All those who slander NOSS are either stupid or bad. In addition, Xinyi tweeted that NOSS already has an over-the-counter market, and he has completed an over-the-counter transaction, receiving 75 tickets for $500 (as shown below).

Overview
In general, NOSS inscriptions were very popular before the casting last night. Members of the inscription community have added equipment for casting in order to mine more NOSS. However, most people who participated in the casting spent more than an hour digging and signed countless times, but did not find a single NOSS. FUD emotions quickly and naturally spread to various communities.
Although there is currently no concrete evidence of whether the project team actually uses users’ computing power to mine BTC, it is difficult for such an inscription mining mechanism to become very popular again in a short period of time.
Finally, the security of the first-level inscription project cannot be completely guaranteed. It is recommended that interested users participate with caution and be sure to use an empty wallet for casting.
