Recently, the international auction giant Sothebys announced the auction of Ordinals project BitcoinShrooms, which is its first auction of Bitcoin NFT. According to Sotheby’s official news, the Ordinals project BitcoinShrooms will be auctioned online from December 6th to 13th (US Eastern Time). There are currently three works available for bidding, including two individual mushrooms and a pixelated avocado seed. It is expected that The sale price is approximately $20,000 to $30,000, with cryptocurrency bids accepted.

Among them, the work named S is Inscription 38, which represents self-sovereignty and has received 45 bids, with the bidding price reaching US$38,000; Sovereign Individual is Inscription 715, which was inspired by Rees-Moggs 1998 classic book The Sovereign Individual, which predicts the emergence of cryptography-based digital currencies that are not controlled by the government. This is also the highest bidder among the three current works, receiving 25 bids; BIP 39 Seed is Inscription 679 to create the seed phrase. Named after the common denominator of mnemonic codes required, self-sovereignty means taking control of ones own Bitcoin private keys, and has received 31 bids.

Designed by anonymous artist Shroomtoshi, BitcoinShrooms captures the cryptocurrency zeitgeist through nostalgic and hyper-referential modes, and educates and inspires appreciation for Bitcoin’s cultural and technological revolution. BitcoinShrooms claims to be the first Ordinals NFT collection, which was initially minted on the chain on October 22. It adopts a pixel style overall, and more than 200 works among the first 1,000 inscriptions belong to BitcoinShrooms. According to the Ordinals design rules, the protocol assigns a unique number to each Satoshi. The higher the ranking, the rarer it becomes. Currently, it has exceeded 40 million inscriptions.

It is worth mentioning that in February this year, BitcoinShrooms conducted an auction on the Bitcoin auction platform Scarce.City for discord active community users. After the auction price was pushed all the way up to 2.5 BTC (worth about $60,000 at the time), BitcoinShroom opened one day ahead of schedule. The auction was urgently canceled and a donation was made to the Bitcoin Dev Kit.
