I am Shenyu. I entered the Crypto field by mistake in 2011. I have speculated in coins, liquidated positions, mined, made chips, and bankrupted several companies. I am still active on the front line and run two companies, F 2 Pool. Fish pond and Cobo. Lets AAA.
Question: What is this product for?
Divine Fish: F 2 Pool, as a classic PoW mining pool, provides miners with refined software services. Through a network connection, the mining machine can be connected to the mining pool, and the mining pool can synchronize block data and unpackaged transaction information from the full-node blockchain network. This information is used to build tasks and then quickly assigned to individual mining machines to perform operations. Once a mining machine finds a value that meets the difficulty requirements, the mining pool will broadcast the corresponding block generated to the entire network. The reward distribution of mined blocks is carried out according to a specific distribution algorithm to ensure the profits of all miners. After 10 years of accumulation, F 2 Pool has successfully mined more than 1.5 million Bitcoins.
Cobo provides institutional users with professional and diverse private key secure storage services, including centralized HSM, co-signed MPC, and multi-signed on-chain, and designs detailed and comprehensive risk control strategies that are consistent with the companys internal workflow.
Question: How do you pick yourself up and continue every time your business goes bankrupt?
Shenyu: I took a few months off, played games, and read books. When I got really bored, I continued to find something to do.
Question: What are your main responsibilities in the companies you started?
Shenyu: There are more strategies, operations, and products. I have also worked in Ops for a long time, for more than 4 years. There are only 2 and a half people in F 2 Pool. I do everything but not write much code. I think it is a miscellaneous job.
Question: Where did these half people (the 2 and a half people above) come from?
Shenyu: While maintaining the mine, I also work as an online customer service, so I’m half a person.
Question: What do you understand by made a chip? Making chips in China seems like a huge investment with a very long payback period, right?
Shenyu: What we are making is a mining machine chip. It follows first principles. It can save money and the iteration cycle is fast. If the chip is made at the right time, the profit will be pretty good. In 2013, I made a LTC 55nm chip, but it failed to catch up with the rising market cycle.
Question: From 2011 to now, is there anything you once believed in that you no longer believe in? Or is there something that you didn’t believe in before, but now you believe it?
Divine Fish: This is a very good question. From a young guy who just left school to working in the industry for more than ten years, I have experienced too many tests of human nature and witnessed the ups and downs of many people, so now I believe even more not to challenge human nature.
Question: Why was new user registration closed when the Yuchi BTC ratio exceeded 33%?
Shenyu: As a crypto-native entrepreneur, I know that a single mining pool exceeding 33% may have an impact on the security of the entire blockchain network. My personal assets and dreams are closely related to the security of the blockchain, so I choose to devote myself to protecting the security of the network.
Question: In addition to stopping the registration of new users, what other measures will be taken? So what will other mining pools do in this situation? (continue from previous question)
Shenyu: In fact, there is a limit to what mining pools can do. Generally, new user registrations are stopped first. If the computing power share still increases a lot, the handling fee can be increased to force revenue-sensitive users to migrate to other mining pools. There have been several similar situations in history.
Question: So what is the relationship between mining companies, SMIC and Huawei’s latest mobile phone chip?
Divine Fish: I really don’t know about this.
Question: Are you happy now or before? Or was it fun all the way?
Shenyu: The advantage of blockchain is that there are endless fun things, and the secretion of dopamine is very strong. If you want to compare, I was happier before.
Question: What is the divine fish’s view on money? Sometimes money comes in so quickly in this industry that it feels like it’s blown by a strong wind. And sometimes it may be because you stepped on the right opportunity, but mistakenly thought it was your own ability. How do you think you can look at currency assets with a peaceful mind?
Divine Fish: Try more and think clearly about how much money you can make, but only make money within your ability. I guess it was probably because the market was flat in 2012-13. I played a lot of on-chain betting games Satoshi Dice. The wins and losses were huge, which had a great impact on my emotions. Later, I became more and more calm and stopped losing. Also a lot more determined.
Question: I’m curious, do you still fight against native dogs or something like that now?
Divine Fish: Native dogs don’t know how to trade, the capital capacity is too small, and the rules are opaque. Head mines that have been audited by the internal security team are occasionally flushed.
Question: Does happiness have nothing to do with money for you? What does that have to do with?
Shenyu: Maybe it’s the feeling of growth. You’ll be happy when you understand a complex agreement, read a good book, learn a mental model, achieve a stage goal, etc.
