There is no king, ruler, or established clear roadmap, and each mfers can do whatever they want with those mfers.

Today, what criteria should be used to evaluate the quality of an NFT project?

Roadmap? Today's NFT project roadmaps are all similar, and it is difficult to innovate. More and more people have already acquiesced that this is just an expectation imagined by the project party in order to retain users; is the art level? It is true that the price of a project with a very high artistic level like Azuki can soar all the way, but the price of more projects does not have a strong binding relationship with the artistic level.

Recently, an NFT avatar project called mfers has exploded on social media. This stick figure has been praised by many industry KOLs, and some even call it the new generation of CryptoPunks.

And this project has little value from an aesthetic point of view, and there is no roadmap. Why can it be loved by people and become a phenomenal NFT series?

The reason is community.

Mfers officially did not establish an official Discord community, but the holders spontaneously formed it. There are no studios and robots on the whitelist for chatting livers in the community, and the members did not care too much about the price. Playing, some people say that this is the most community-like one in the NFT project community.

People used to call this "consensus", but now the NFT Native generation prefers to call it "Vibe". When the community has a good atmosphere, who doesn't want to join, and who wants to leave?

The founder of Mfers, Sartoshi, published an article on Mirror, telling the background story of the birth of Mfers and his philosophical thinking on the NFT world. BlockBeats translated the full text as follows.

So many people asked me "what the hell is mfers?", so I wrote this article to introduce its backstory.

The story goes back to when I first entered the NFT world.

In March 2021, I started diving into SuperRare and digital art and created an account. I need a "stage name", we all know Satoshi and digital currency (digital currency), but what I want to do is digital art (digital art), so I named myself "Sartoshi". My avatar was the default anonymous avatar for SuperRare, and I started collecting some art.

Then, NFT ushered in an unprecedented boom.

My favorite is CryptoPunks. I love these Larva Labs creations without blueprints. In April 2021, I bought my first CryptoPunk, a mohawk, a cigarette, and my Twitter avatar.

I bought a few more Punks after that because I believe they're an undervalued speculative asset, and once you own one, enjoy the sweetness of owning it, and you know it's only 10,000 in total, then you'll be able to See its potential value in the future. But I also think that trading them is a very interesting thing, the summer of 2021 is the "summer of small pictures", I am trading my CryptoPunks every week, and I am not tired of it. I also often engage in bidding wars with my friends.

At the same time, I will also post some jokes and emoticons on Twitter, pointing out the absurdity of the world and the NFT field. Some things are just so exaggerated, like everyone saying that the NFT they just got is the most amazing art they've ever seen, like they've witnessed a miracle. So I posted this little snippet:

"Oh my god, the level of art is just incredible."

"Sir, this is a grocery store, and that's just a box of cereal."

I'm also drawing comics and tweeting some of them, some of them are really popular and a lot of people say I should mint them into NFTs. I chose to mint NFT at the Foundation, and set the auction reserve price at 0.1 ETH. I distributed 50% of the income from most of the works to charity. I believe that the encryption field can provide a lot of help to the poor. This is a great cause . I also tweet a lot about motherf*cker and mfer. It feels good to say it, especially if there is something positive about it. You should all give it a try, like saying "gm mfer" every day I created a cartoon villain who said this and put him on the Foundation platform. While I have some traditional art practice (drawing and such), the cartoon style fits with everything I'm doing and going through, including creating memes that relate to NFT life.

Probably my favorite meme is the “Did you win, son?” image of a stickman dad talking to his stickman son, who is lounging at his computer with headphones on. This inspired me to create many emoticons about NFT life, such as:

"Have you made any money, son?"

"I'm f***ing illiquid, Dad."

One of my favorite memes is one I drew right after the market crash, the kid is looking at the price chart and he covers the screen with his hand and says, "Dad, can you fucking knock first?"

The turning point was that one day I drew a cigarette on a child and used him as my avatar with a classic orange background. This rude toddler with headphones on and smoking a cigarette, lounging in a chair with his arms stretched out to his keyboard. All the tweets are made by him, whether it is memes, jokes, or opinions on the NFT economy, it is this kid who is typing. The attitude is both confident and rebellious, like "don't mess with me" and "this is Web3, I will do what I want to do." This is what Sartoshi looks like-smoking and tweeting (friendly reminder ,Smoking is harmful to health.)

What if we all lived with a jerk like that inside of us? In fact, we are all a Degen, but in our own way, artists, collectors, investors, gamers, teachers, etc., we sit in front of the computer to browse a new world. What if a collection of NFTs could capture this feeling, allowing anyone to become their inner mfer? This is the inspiration for the mfers collection. The question now becomes, how large should this collection be? I remember that gmoney said this before. A collection of 10,000 NFTs like Punks and BAYC can allow people to generate consensus and become a community. (Note: I completely missed BAYC. I bought Punks when BAYC was born and missed this rocket. The development of BAYC so far is jaw-dropping.) Anyway, I started to create my stick figure, which will It will be a mfers series with a total of 10,000.

I made stick figures because they had to be stick figures, not because I was too lazy to draw them. The lines I draw can be directly seen by the public, which is also the artistic characteristic of the artist, which is very natural without too much modification. Art is amazing isn't it, making art is sometimes a lot like making desserts. Can your six year old draw? I fucking don't know, maybe they'll draw a fucking Charlie Brown.

So how to determine the characteristics and scarcity of mfer? I thought about the CryptoPunks that made me fall in love with NFTs. Thus, mfers have a species distribution much like CryptoPunks: mostly humans, then about 88 zombies, 24 apes, and 9 aliens. (Although the generation is random, this number is not exact, but I designed it according to such weights.) I also added my favorite iconic elements from CryptoPunks, such as hoodies, cold hats, 3D glasses, etc. , a tribute to the OG.

After being addicted to NFT in the summer of 2021, I also wanted to pay tribute to what I thought was a representative NFT series at the time, so I added 21 1/1 paintings in a style similar to "Did you win, Dad" emoticons. There is always a person in these pictures yelling, "Stay away from NFTs, they are too dangerous!", and this child has become an NFT, such as Boring Ape, Cool Cat, Cryptodickbutt, Squiggle, Ringer, Nakamoto cards, even beeple himself.

So who is responsible for doing a good job of technology development, we need to make sure everything is done right and can stand the test of time. I contacted Richerd (check twitter if you don't know) and he recommended me to colleagues at Westcoastnft who put their all-star team on the project (Santana, Wei, Lim and others) , they are responsible for the technology of the project (Ethereum contracts, minting functions, etc.), and I am responsible for the art.

When I created this series, Punk4156 and Punk6529 and others were talking about a very experimental idea, which is to give NFT a CC0 license. The advantage of this is that the creators open up the intellectual property rights of the works, and Anyone can use it to make anything they want (such as secondary creation into NFT, making goods, etc.). Cryptoadz from Nouns and Gremplin took this approach and I enjoyed it too. I decided to have Mfers do the same, a grand experiment in the new world of Web3.

I have been in constant communication with Santana at Westcoastnft, probably 6969 texts, while I am constantly revising my creation, and we are getting ready to release on November 30th, 2021. The launch price was set at 0.069 ETH and the first time I mentioned the project to others was when I tweeted the day before the launch with a link to mfers.art. No whitelists, no honor memberships, no paid promotions, nothing. The website went live at 4:20 pm that day and sold out within minutes. I'm grateful and excited to see what the world would look like with mfers.

In my imagination, the principle in the world of Mfers is simple, that is "we are all Mfers", there is no king, ruler, and no established clear roadmap, every mfers can do whatever they want with these mfers want to do. I don't know what the future will look like, and likewise, no one knows the answer to this question. We don't have an official Discord server, so I hear that mfers has set up an "official unofficial Discord" himself, and now there are thousands of community members doing amazing things. I didn't join in, I did it on purpose. Mfers don't need Sartoshi's approval, let alone anyone's face, to experiment and build. In my opinion, the most valuable thing to provide mfer holders is to continuously amplify their best ideas and creations, reach more people, and add value to holders when opportunities arise, including with those Artist collaborations that may create other NFTs for mfer holders.

Mfers is under construction. 3D version of mfers, a 3Dmferverse with a token economy, mfers peripheral products (such as hoodies, hats, derivatives, etc.), mfers ahead (front mfers), dead mfers (cool skull mfers), apemfers, 1 /1 collections such as "mfers in paradise", in addition to these there are countless projects under construction. We have books about mfers, many songs about mfers, our community members are all over the world, and not long ago there was a twitter space hosted by Chinese mfers. As I write this, Mfers has been around for about two months, and it's really just getting started. Speaking of construction, here areAll Mfers pictures(uploaded by santana at westcoastnft) for anyone who wants to use them. (Remember, Mfers' arms can reach not just computers, but pianos, paint brushes, beer cans, steering wheels, spaceships, poker tables, and everything else.)

I recently tweeted, "You can lay out a road map of where you're going, but you can also plant a seed and let it grow wild." Now that the seeds have been planted all around us, let's see It's very early days to see how they will grow. This philosophy explains the responses to many of the comments I've been receiving:

- "Sartoshi you need an official Discord." No we don't, mfers built one for mfers;

- "Sartoshi you need to be present in Discord as a leader." No, I don't, mfers are leading themselves (but I'm happy to share a lot of mfers' creations and ideas.)

- "Sartoshi you need a roadmap." No, mfers are paving their own path.

- "Sartoshi you should do paid promotion." No, the mfers team is growing organically.

- "Sartoshi you should send mfers to some celebrities for free." No, those mfers are like us, mfers, mfer.

- "Sartoshi we need to get more people to change their avatars to mfers." No, they would if they wanted to.

- "Sartoshi people should not place orders below a certain price." No, mfers should do whatever they want, we are mfers and they are mfers.

- "Sartoshi What utility do they have?" Mfers are utility itself, they're like CryptoPunks, but you can do whatever you want with them.

- "Will Sartoshi floor prices go up?" I don't know mfer.

- "Sartoshi, my kids can draw anything you draw, I hate NFT, and I hate you too." Haha, cheers mfer.

All in all, we mfers love you mfers, GM mfers, we're only just getting started.
