Crypto lawyer sues US Department of Homeland Security, demands disclosure of meeting information related to Satoshi Nakamoto's identity
2025-04-08 00:16:52

Odaily News Cryptocurrency lawyer James Murphy has cited the Freedom of Information Act to sue the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), demanding that the agency disclose whether it has ever met with "Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto" and disclose relevant notes and emails. The lawsuit is based on remarks made by DHS agent Rana Saoud at a meeting in 2019, in which she said that several DHS colleagues had met with four people involved in the creation of Bitcoin in California and asked about their motives and the ultimate goal of Bitcoin. Murphy said that if the meeting did take place, there should be records available, and promised to "pursue the case to the end." The case was assisted by former U.S. Assistant Attorney Brian Field, with the goal of promoting government transparency. At present, the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto has not been revealed, and the community is still controversial about whether his identity should be made public.
