Odaily News Paul Atkins, Trump's nominee for chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, will appear at a confirmation hearing before the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee on Thursday morning. Paul Atkins said in prepared remarks: "The current regulatory environment in the U.S. financial system discourages investment and often punishes success. Unclear, overly complex and cumbersome regulations are stifling capital formation, while American investors are inundated with disclosures that do not help them understand the true risks of their investments. It is time to reset priorities and restore common sense to the SEC."
Paul Atkins is also expected to discuss how to regulate the cryptocurrency industry, which he said would be his first priority as chairman of the SEC. (CNBC)
