The operation was led by the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) and targeted several fake investment platforms that used promises of high returns to lure investors into depositing funds and then disappeared with the money. DFPI stressed that investors should be vigilant when investing in cryptocurrencies to avoid falling into fraud traps.
