Coinbase asks SEC to disclose enforcement spending against crypto firms
2025-03-04 00:56:40

Odaily News Coinbase filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) seeking disclosure of enforcement expenditures against crypto companies between April 17, 2021 and January 20, 2025.
Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal said Coinbase wants to know the number of employees the SEC has invested, the use of external contractors and the total cost. The SEC disbanded the Crypto Assets and Cyber Unit on February 20.

Former SEC Chairman Gary Gensler resigned on January 20, and the SEC subsequently withdrew its lawsuits against Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Yuga Labs and other crypto companies. The SEC did not respond to this. (Cointelegraph)
