Odaily News Bitcoin mining company Genesis Digital Assets Limited (GDA) is expanding its bitcoin mining operations in West Texas, adding 50 megawatts of power capacity at its Pyote and Vernon mines. The expansion includes two new 20-megawatt buildings at the Pyote mine, bringing the total capacity of the mine to 195 megawatts, and a new 10-megawatt container facility at the Vernon mine, bringing the total capacity of the mine to 70 megawatts. According to the GDA website, the Pyote mine can be expanded to 370 megawatts. GDA currently has a total power capacity of more than 600 megawatts worldwide and operates 20 data centers in Texas, South Carolina, Sweden and Argentina. The company's CEO Abdumalik Mirakhmedov said GDA is "one of the world's largest bitcoin mining companies in terms of computing power." The company will participate in Texas' demand response program to shut down mining machines during peak power demand periods and receive compensation. (Coindesk)
