Odaily News SlowMist Chief Information Security Officer 23pds said that there have been recent SMS phishing attacks targeting Binance users. Phishing SMS messages appeared in the conversation thread of Binance official SMS messages, and appeared in the same context as the previous official SMS messages, sharing the same channel. In response to this issue, Binance Customer Support responded that SMS Spoofing is a common attack method, not a new hacker technology, and is not targeted at the change or cryptocurrency industry. Attackers will modify the sender's identity to make the SMS appear to come from a trusted source. In some countries or regions, the mechanism for achieving camouflage is still in a legal gray area, which increases the difficulty of solving this attack method in the security field.
Binance plans to launch a new security feature in the near future to help users identify the authenticity of text messages. Here is a reminder to all users:
Please always double check the source of the SMS message and avoid clicking on any suspicious links;
Please keep your personal information safe to prevent leakage, including account password, mnemonic phrase and wallet private key, etc.;
Binance will not contact users via SMS or phone calls. If you encounter any problems, please contact online customer service.
