Odaily News OpenAI has announced plans to open its first office in Germany, with the Munich office set to begin operations in the coming months.
Germany is the country with the largest number of OpenAI users, paying subscribers and developers in Europe and is therefore a key market for expansion. The decision follows discussions with German officials since 2023 and is supported by Germany Trade & Invest, a government agency that promotes international business.
The move is in line with the EU AI Directive, which sets global regulatory standards for artificial intelligence. In addition to the Munich office, OpenAI has previously established offices in Paris, Brussels and Dublin in Europe.
