Odaily News Robinhood is getting into prediction markets, announcing Monday that users can start trading contracts just eight days away from the 2024 U.S. presidential election. The company said users can start trading contracts on Kamala Harris or Donald Trump starting Monday as long as they meet certain conditions, including being a U.S. citizen. The trading is offered through Robinhood’s derivatives unit and ForecastEx. Robinhood enters a suddenly crowded field of political prediction markets after the platform Kalshi won a key ruling this month against the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), which sought to block trading on election results. The CFTC is appealing the ruling. Soon after, Robinhood competitor Interactive Brokers launched a variety of political contracts, including the election.
