Odaily News Google (GOOG.O) plans to invest $1 billion in data centers in Thailand, following global technology companies in adding cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure in Southeast Asia. Google will add facilities in Bangkok and Chonburi province, southeast of Bangkok. The company cited a Deloitte study on Monday saying that the spending could help Thailand's economy add $4 billion by 2029 and provide 14,000 jobs annually over the next five years. The investment was jointly announced by Google and Thailand's recently appointed Prime Minister Petunthan, highlighting the efforts of Southeast Asian governments to attract foreign technology companies.
