2024-08-22 15:25
Odaily News OmegaPro co-founder Andreas Szakacs was arrested in Turkey in July on suspicion of involvement in a $4 billion cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme. Szakacs had previously become a Turkish citizen and changed his name to Emre Avci. Turkish authorities seized computers and 32 cold wallets during the raid and tracked the movement of approximately $160 million in cryptocurrency funds. OmegaPro reportedly collapsed in late 2022 following regulatory warnings from several countries. A Dutch investor claiming to represent 3,000 victims claimed that these investors lost a total of $103 million. (Coindesk)
