Indian Prime Minister Modi: Need to establish a global framework and regulations for cryptocurrencies
2023-08-28 07:13:51
Odaily News: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the need for a global framework and regulations for cryptocurrencies in an interview with Business Today.

He said, "Technological changes are happening rapidly, and it is a reality - ignoring it or hoping it will disappear is meaningless. Instead, the focus should be on adoption, democratization, and a unified approach. At the same time, the rules, regulations, and frameworks surrounding it should not be limited to certain countries alone. Therefore, not only cryptocurrencies, but all emerging technologies need a global framework and regulations. We need a global model based on consensus, especially one that takes into account the concerns of the Global South countries."

Note: Global South countries refer to developing countries with low income, dense populations, and poor infrastructure, mainly located in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The term is derived from the fact that many of these countries are located in the southern hemisphere.
