Google Play has changed its policy to allow the integration of NFTs in apps and games.
2023-07-12 16:42:00
Odaily News: Google Play has announced a major policy change that allows developers to integrate NFTs and other digital assets into their app and game listings. Companies that decide to offer functionality for buying, selling, or earning tokenized assets will be required to clearly disclose the presence of blockchain-based elements in their applications through the Play Console.

Joseph Mills, Group Product Manager at Google Play, stated in a blog post that this move will enable partners to reimagine "traditional games with user-owned content" and enhance "user loyalty" through NFT rewards.

Reddit is one of the partners collaborating with Google in shaping this new policy. Matt Williamson, Senior Engineering Manager at Reddit, stated in a post that the updated guidelines aim to create a fair competitive environment, foster user trust, and responsibly utilize blockchain technology.

A spokesperson for Google Play revealed that the new features are expected to undergo initial testing by the end of this summer, with the full rollout of the policy planned for later this year. (CoinDesk)
