G7 officials: US-Iran memorandum of understanding could be signed as early as Sunday
Odaily Planet Daily News G7 officials said the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran could be signed as early as Sunday in Geneva.
Andrea De Si, a lecturer in international relations at the Italian American University, said US President Trump is seeking a "face-saving exit" to end a war against Iran that has become a "strategic disaster."
De Si pointed out: "Trump's volatility on social media reflects divisions within the government. The signals released in the past few hours are positive, and we hope this can promote a breakthrough, but the situation could still change rapidly." He said a leaked final document shows that to reach a deal, Trump may have abandoned some of his previously proposed demands.
De Si added: "At the same time, we need to be cautious about statements, because the US not only has to sell this agreement to its own voters, but also to Israel." (Jin Shi)
